Empathy Intervention – Raul Jackson

A few days ago I found myself judging someone for the way they spoke to one of the workers at a restaurant. I thought that their tone of voice made them sound rude and I assumed that they were a bad person overall. A few minutes later however, I started to realize that I just created a whole image of this person just from one small interaction. I didn’t know anything about who they really were. Maybe they were having a bad day or maybe they simply have a mean-sounding voice but for all I know they could actually be the nicest person on the planet. This experience has made me realize how quickly we judge people based on almost no information and now I will try to stop this habit going into the future.
