Prior to coming to Cal Poly almost everyone I knew had extremely liberal political views. I am from Oakland so attending protests and being among people of different backgrounds and stuff like that is the norm. Here it’s very different. I have had many conversations with people who have different political opinions than mine. The first time I had a conversation like this I was not very understanding and forgot to see the other person as someone like me. But over time I have been able to look at it through their eyes and try to understand where their opinions are coming from. I am able to be respectful and be okay with disagreeing.
