During my junior year in high school my friend’s dog had passed away. He was very affected by this because of how close he was to his dog and he was really sad for several weeks. However he never told about the death of his dog for a while so I had no idea why he was feeling the way he was. When he finally told me, I was confused as to why he had not told me earlier so I could have better supported me. I thought he should have to come to me right away. Then I realized people cope differently and that sometimes people need space after serious incidents. I have felt this way when I was in a similar situation when I failed an important math test I did not want to tell anyone because I wanted to deal and reflect on it on my own.
