Empathy Intervention – Chloe Ma

I never had to deal with personal death in my life. But near the end of senior year, my friend lost her father due to a medical reason and was absent from the rest of school often and whenever she was at school, it was like she wasn’t there. The atmosphere around her had changed completely into a dark cloud and all I could think of was what could I do to help. I could’t feel what she was feeling and but all I knew I could do was be there for her and be understanding, if she didn’t want to talk or if she needed a hug. I realized that a lot of the time we forget we are human and we take everything for granted, but we should truly appreciate every moment we have.
